নির্বাচন কমিশনের নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন, জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন বর্জনের হুঁশিয়ারি এনসিপির

আসন্ন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে নির্বাচন কমিশনের নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি (এনসিপি)। দলের মুখ্য সমন্বয়ক নাসির উদ্দিন পাটোয়ারী হুঁশিয়ারি দিয়ে বলেছেন, ‘একটি নির্দিষ্ট দল ছাড়া অন্য রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোকে নির্বাচন থেকে দূরে রাখতে নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি) নানা ধরনের চেষ্টা করছে। এ ধরনের পরিস্থিতি চলতে থাকলে এনসিপি নির্বাচন বর্জন করবে এবং নির্বাচন কমিশন পুনর্গঠনের দাবিতে আন্দোলনে নামবে।’
রোববার (৩ আগস্ট) সকালে রাজধানীর আগারগাঁওয়ে নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিবালয়ে প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) কাজী হাবিবুল আউয়ালের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ শেষে সাংবাদিকদের এ কথা বলেন তিনি।
নাসির উদ্দিন পাটোয়ারী বলেন, “নির্বাচন কমিশন একটি নির্দিষ্ট দলের উর্দি পরা মেরুদণ্ডহীন প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে কাজ করছে। বিগত ১৫ বছর ধরে জনগণ সুষ্ঠু ভোটাধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত। আমরা গণতান্ত্রিক প্রক্রিয়ায় অংশ নিতে চাই, কিন্তু ইসিই এখন বড় বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। যদি ভোট দেওয়ার এবং নেওয়ার সমান সুযোগ নিশ্চিত করা না হয়, তাহলে এনসিপি নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করবে না।”
এদিন এনসিপির নিবন্ধন সংক্রান্ত প্রয়োজনীয় সংশোধিত কাগজপত্র নির্বাচন কমিশনে জমা দিয়েছে প্রতিনিধি দল। দলের পক্ষ থেকে বলা হয়, তারা শাপলা প্রতীক বরাদ্দ পাওয়ার আশা করছে। পাশাপাশি, প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের ভোটাধিকার নিশ্চিত করতে নির্বাচন কমিশনকে নিয়মিত অনলাইন ব্রিফিং আয়োজনেরও আহ্বান জানান নাসির উদ্দিন।
রোববার দুপুর ১২টা ৩০ মিনিটে নির্বাচন কমিশনে উপস্থিত হয় এনসিপির চার সদস্যের প্রতিনিধি দল। এতে নেতৃত্ব দেন মুখ্য সমন্বয়ক নাসির উদ্দিন পাটোয়ারী। তার সঙ্গে ছিলেন দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের মুখ্য সংগঠক হাসনাত আবদুল্লাহ, যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক খালেদ সাইফুল্লাহ এবং যুগ্ম সদস্য সচিব জহিরুল ইসলাম মুসা।
উল্লেখ্য, নির্বাচন কমিশন এর আগে এনসিপিসহ ১৪৪টি নতুন রাজনৈতিক দলের নিবন্ধন আবেদন যাচাই-বাছাই করে তথ্য ঘাটতির বিষয়ে চিঠি দেয়। এনসিপির ক্ষেত্রে ছয়টি বিষয় চিহ্নিত করা হয়, যার মধ্যে রয়েছে জেলা ও উপজেলা কমিটির তাল
